The Nannen Arboretum located at 28 Parkside Drive in Ellicottville is known as “The Jewel in the Crown of Ellicottville”. It is a sanctuary for hundreds of trees, shrubs, perennial flowers, herbs and nature walks. It is managed by the Nannen Arboretum Society a not-for-profit organization which relies on voluntary support for maintenance and improvement of the facility. The Society is hosting a Volunteer Recruitment Open House at the arboretum on Saturday, April 27, 11:00 a.m. – noon. Join us for a cup of coffee and walk through the arboretum grounds to learn about the type of volunteer tasks available to you:

  • Removing branches on the ground as a result of recent tree service pruning and the ongoing winds.
  • Painting and/or sealing benches.
  • Weeding/mulching in gardens throughout the arboretum.
  • Pruning trees and shrubs
  • Herb Garden Renovation – adopt an Herb Garden

The Society and volunteers have regular work days every Monday from 9:30 a.m. to noon. We will be in ‘clean up’ mode in the early weeks and have scheduled three additional special CLEAN UP days in May to encourage the community to join us.

  • Thursday, May 9, 2019, 9:00 – noon
  • Saturday, May 18, 2019, 9:00 – noon
  • Monday, May 20, 2019, 9:00 – noon

In case of rain or snow, the CLEAN UP day will be rescheduled. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring your favorite gardening tool or just bring yourself.
