Nannen Arboretum Society Inc Trustee Meeting Minutes for Monday, February 9, 2026
Call to order by Steve at 10:05.
Review and Approve Minutes of January 12,2026 meeting Motion by Paul / Diane.

Financial Report Morgan Stanley Report: Investment profile was reviewed.

Communication: None
Volunteers: Steve will check with Gretchen about a list of members. There is a new master
gardener from Little Valley that joined.
Education/Speakers: Cornell has a prerecorded presentation that Steve will schedule.
Community Relations/ programs
Silent Book Club: Steve made a flyer that more information will be added. Calendar of events
might inspire more people to join. Maybe get a few libraries involved.
Memorial Program: none
Ellicottville Town:
Note from Matt McAndrew gave good feedback from report Steve sent him.
Pollinator Path / Pond Feed: How much would it cost to get hawthorns timed or partially
removed?
Field Trips to other Arboretums in Rochester or Cleveland? Plan a day trip. Infor will be
brought to next meeting.
Tree Wish List / shrubs for Dogwood area in Herb Garden
Unfinished Business:
Dwarf Conifer Collections: none
Pollinator Area: None
Dogwood Collection-replacement plan
Entrance Board: Photo box is done. Possible put the history of the arboretum in the box and
remove some of that information off the flyer.
Group B Tourism: $350 grant was received.
Al Cox: replace treated wood in spring: None
Herb Garden: None
Pond: spring clean north Noting new
Flyer: Needs revisions. Steve will meet with Brenda Perks. Remove most of the history. Show
activities. Include educational programs. More explanation of the arboretum with pond,
benches, picnic tables etc.
New Business
Arbor Day: Friday April 24th 11AM will be planting tree/ brief reception with refreshments and
John Burrell.
Farmer Neighbor Dinner: April 8 th at the West Valley Fire Hall. Give away DEC spruce plugs,
maybe 50 this year, and maybe 3 different more expensive trees. 100 Douglas Firs would cost
$255 and 50 Balsam Firs would be $159.
Policy review: Steve will put together a meeting with Paul and Lorie.
