Board of Trustees Meeting Minutes
April 14, 2025 Ellicottville Town Center
Members attending: Mike Braun, Ed Chapman, Laurie Barrera, Gretchen Plough, Blair Hamillton, Diane Smith, Paul Timkey, and Steven Ward
- Approved agenda
- Call meeting to order and welcome.
- Minutes: The trustees considered the minutes of the March 10, 2025 meeting. Gretchen made a motion to accept the minutes and Ed seconded the motion. Motion was approved and carried by a unanimous vote.
- Guest Speaker: None
- Treasurer’s Report: Laurie reported income of $100.00 for the 3/10/25- 4/1/25 quarter. Expenses totaled $1345.72. Mike moved and Ed seconded to accept the report. The motion was carried by a unanimous vote. Laurie was given permission to renew our CD that is coming due.

- We ordered and received 100 “S” tags for $350.00
- Codes need to be assigned to the tree inventory
- Blair will rivot tags to the existing tree signs
- Mike is working on adding a donation button for pay pal on our main page.
- Tree mapping Inventory and Signage: No Report
- Tree Maintenance and Pruning Plan: No Report
- Ground and infrastructure Maintenance:
- Motion was made by Gretchen and seconded by Blair to hire Smith Creek Pond to address the algae, pond weed , and muck biotics.
- Communication: None
- Volunteers: Clean up set for Saturday April 26th with a rain date of Monday April28th.
- Education Program/ Speakers:
- Thursday May 15th we will have the ECS third graders.
- Community Relationships/Outreach: No Report
- Memorial Program:
- We will be planting an oak tree in memory of Sue Blesy.
- Town of Elllicottville:
- Laurie will make our annual request for $ 50000.00 from the town.
- Will offer Plantsoon Demo in the future.
- Field Trips:
- Cornell Botanical Gardens May 14th. Meet at Town Hall at 8.00 AM.
- Wish list:
- Still thinking of border wish list for Fillmore Ave.
- Arbor Day:
- Held April 25th at 11.00 am along with annual meeting.
- Steve dug hole and planted the Hackberry tree.
- Mike will do a presentation on Plantsoon.
- Steve will speak about Forest Bathing
- Pollinator Garden Area:
- Paul has finished making new boards for small raised beds as well as a new standing raised bed.
- Paul also finished making a trellis for our Dwarf Garden area.

- Unfinished Business: No Report
- New Business:
- Board positions for Diane Smith, Gretchen Plough, Sue Blesy and Paul Timkey are up on 4/2025. We will need to replace a Vice President and Secretary.
- Policy and By-Laws: No Report
- Adjournment and next meeting: May 12th at 11:30am. Laurie made a motion to adjourn with Gretchen seconding it. Unanimous vote.
